The coronavirus claims another victim.
The Ultra Music Festival in Miami which was to take place later this month has been cancelled due to concerns over the coronavirus. Miami Commissioner Manolo Reyes confirmed that the three-day electronic music festival will not take place from March 20-22 according to a report by the Miami Herald.
This decision marks the first time that Ultra will not host its Miami-based event in its 21 year history. Attendees are divided about the decision and took to social media to weigh in on both sides of the decision, some expressing relief while others furious over the hasty call. Still others suggest that Miami officials used Coronavirus as an excuse to cancel due to a falling out with the brand.
Ultra and Miami city leaders are working out legal details and will publish their plan on Friday. Thousands of prospective travelers are caught in limbo not knowing whether to cancel their flights and hotels.
In other news, it was just announced that Tomorrowland Winter in Alpe d’Huez was cancelled this morning. The French government is systematically cancelling large gatherings across the country. Other festivals around the globe will likely follow the same fate.
