According to Nielsen SoundScan, in a report by Billboard Magazine, Lil Wayne's latest release "The Carter III" sold 423,000 copies on its first day, June 10, 2008. This puts him on par to reach near 1 million copies in the first week and looks to be the best selling release of the year so far. His single "Lollipop" has been #1 on the Billboard Top 100 for the past two weeks.

Although those on the scene had access to the album illegally for quite some time, the album was still a huge seller. The release date for the album was pushed back a number of times because of the leaks.

Lil Wayne's first album "The Carter" sold 1.1 million copies while his second "The Carter II" sold 1.4 million.

In Rock news, Billboard reports that Disturbed took their third Billboard 200 No. 1 with "Indestructible" selling 252,000 albums, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
