(Press Release) A lynchpin of the UK South Coast’s phenomenally productive, loosely connected house music mafia, which sees the region produce a disproportionate number of the UK’s highest achievers, Tom’s deep, rolling tech-house sounds are seeing his name regularly mentioned in the same breath as the guys who were his early inspiration. The label’s tenth release, Tom Budden – “The Tree Dance” was a real milestone for both the imprint and its owner. The track appealed to some of the finest ears from across the board, being played by everyone from deep house DJs to the techno fraternity and now Tom celebrates two years and 20 releases on ALiVE with his 3-D project this summer. Namely 3 packages of 3 tracks (a Tom Budden original, plus 2 remixes by ALiVE favourites and regulars), each released 3 weeks apart. It’s another confident move from a producer clearly entering his prime.

“I'm very excited that the label is reaching the 20th release and this project is allowing me to really show what the label is all about musically, from the deeper, dubbier house side of things through to the chunkier tech house aimed squarely at the dancefloor”, Tom Budden.

'Kansai' is Mr Budden's first single since last years smash 'The Tree Dance' which put the label on the map and won fans across the board. Influenced from a recent trip to Japan, 'Kansai' is deep yet driving, in typical Budden style. The funked up live bassline rolls things along underneath Tom's trademark shimmering stabs and a choppy vocal. First up on 3-D remix duties are ALiVE favourites, Jet Project from Belfast. Fresh from recent releases on Get Physical, Renaissance, Darkroom Dubs and ViVa, they give Kansai their own quirky, chunky treatment. Twisting the vocal, throwing in some horns and some serious bottom end thump the boys turn this into bumping tech monster. The second remix comes from label regular Teva. This is his second outing on ALiVE under his Teva alias.

Tom Budden’s second part of his '3-D' project sees the release of 'Grabbing At Straws'; a low slung, deep techy groover with a twist. Subtle drops, punchy percussion and dubby effects lock you into the groove before shimmering piano chords give any dancefloor the lift they might need in the later hours. Parisian legend and Safari Electronique owner 'Arnaud Le Texier' is our first special guest on remix duties. Keeping many of the original elements of the original, Arnaud keeps things deep but with bags of energy to hold the floor and twists the main piano line over his solid drum programming. The second remix of the package comes from Italian producer 'Santorini'. With releases on his own label 'Recycle Records' and Berlin Based 'Upon You' doing the damage in the tech house charts recently, we had to get him on board. We have a special bonus mix of this one from one of our favourite ALiVE regulars, the Sheffield based producer, 'Pedramovich'. With projects for Audiofly's 'Supernature' imprint and London/Brighton based 'Hypercolour he has kept many of the original elements but by toughening the groove up, Pedramovich has created a raw tech house rework.

Taking ALiVE Recordings over the landmark 20th Release is Tom Budden’s hypnotic; piano-infested 'The Deal' dropping with plenty of feel good vibes just in time for those summer terrace moments. The first remix comes from Toronto's Daniel Dubb who has been riding high in the deep house charts of late with his releases on 8Bit, Plastic City and Supernature. His bootleg alongside fellow Canadian 'Sean Miller' of Nina Simone's 'Sinnerman' has been huge for Steve Lawler recently and caused quite a stir in Miami this year. His remix of the Deal strips things back to a deep house groove with loads of funk. ONNO from Amsterdam delivers a seriously solid remix. Stripping things back to a solid techy workout underpinned by a big rolling bassline. Chopping the vocals down even more and using them to full effect before bringing the main piano hook to seal the deal!

Over the last 20 releases ALiVE Recordings has methodically earned a position as one of the most exciting labels in dance music, and its continued ascent looks as sure-fire as Tom Budden’s enviable track record.
