Will temp turn into perm?
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Will Ferrell will join the cast of "The Office" for four episodes later this season, at least one of which will air after the show's ring leader, Steve Carell (cast as Michael Scott), departs four episodes prior to the season finale.
Ferrell will be cast as a Dunder Mifflin branch manager who gets sent to Scranton. Presumably he and Carell will either clash because Ferrell's character will tell better jokes than Michael Scott, or totally bond over their inability to handle personnel. "We found Steve Carell when he was nothing but a movie star and we turned him into a television star - we are proud to continue The Office's tradition of discovering famous talent, and we hope that once America gets a good look at Will, they'll see what we see: tremendous raw sexuality," said Paul Lieberstein, the show's executive producer.
Presumably Ferrell won't be taking over as the equivalent of the show's new Michael Scott since his character is only temporary. Carell reported he will be leaving his lead role in the series after the current seventh season to focus on his family.
