Turning off twitter and facebook for a day.
Alicia Keys, Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga are among many celebrities who are signing off Twitter and Facebook to raise money for charity, reported the Associated Press.
The participants have agreed to give up their social networking sites this Wednesday, which is World AIDS Day, as part of a new campaign, Digital Life Sacrifice, to raise donations for Key’s Keep a Child Alive Foundation. The stars won’t return to tweeting and updating their Facebook pages until the $1 million target is met.
"It's really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on,” Keys tells the Associated Press. "This is such a direct and instantly emotional way and a little sarcastic of a way to get people to pay attention,” said Keys, who has more than 2.6 million followers on Twitter.
