Singers perform Beatles classics in tribute.
Gwen Stefani, Steven Tyler, and Sheryl Crow were among the performers who delivered tributes to legendary entertainers during this year’s Kennedy Center Honors. The ceremony honored Paul McCartney, Oprah Winfrey, country singer Merle Haggard, composer Jerry Herman and dancer Bill T. Jones.
McCartney was honored with performances of his classic Beatles songs, such as “Hello, Goodbye” and “Penny Lane,” by Stefani and her No Doubt bandmates, while Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler let loose during a medley of the Beatles’ “Abbey Road.” Singers Dave Grohl and Norah Jones also paid tribute to McCartney, performing one of his biggest solo songs, “Maybe I’m Amazed,” as a duet.
The Kennedy Center Honors were aired last night (Dec. 28) on CBS after being recorded in Washington D.C. earlier this month.
