Smith, who has a young daughter, has decided to take time out from the constant touring that has seen him away from home for much of the last few years.

Jamiroquai front man Jay Kay said this week - "It is sad to see him go but I totally understand the commitment Toby feels for his family and the strains of being away from home for long periods. I wish him all the best."

The pair have left the door open to working together on future studio projects.

All Jamiroquai live dates during the summer remain unaffected.
