The Foo Fighters debuted a music video for “Rope,” the lead single from their seventh studio album Wasting Light on MTV Thursday. Directed by frontman Dave Grohl, the performance-based clip was shot entirely on VHS tape.

“We shot the video … in a big soundstage in Los Angeles,” Grohl told MTV. “And we had to build this cube out of fabric and wood for the band to play within, and it’s lit from outside.” The music video for “Rope” features the band members dressed in black and situated within a white room, facing inward in a loose circle. It later gets crazier when flashing orange lights make their way into the clip during a particularly shredding guitar solo.
