The Mekka electronic music festival is a tour that was initially set for August and early September 2001. The first large-scale tour to focus exclusively on electronic music, the Mekka tour unites leading names from across the dance music spectrum. The Mekka tour and related events were set to touch down in Detroit, Toronto, Tampa, Miami, Dallas, New York, Minneapolis, Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The tour features such talent as Armand Van Helden, Danny Tenaglia, BT (live), Roni Size, LTJ Bukem and De La Soul.

Mekka tour coordinators state: "The postponement comes after months of preparation. As the tour approached it became apparent that despite hard work and co-operation and support from people across North America, Mekka would not be able to present the events at the level it had envisioned. The Mekka collective cites numerous reasons for the postponement, the most immediate being time for planning."

Now what?! Let's hope that they get their act together and make it happen. I hope their 2002 plans will give them enough time. Damn, I was all set to buy tix for the NYC performance. Perhaps they need the top-notch skills of InternetDJ?
