Distractions: This Weekend in NYC

For our NYC area residents, here's a great list of upcoming events in our area for this weekend and beyond.

FRIDAY Oct 5TH

WELCOME BACK, KAT MAC
"Supermodel" Party, 10pm
Eugene, 27 W 24th (btw 5th and 6th)
RSVP: Noel Ashman 212 517 4065
*Despite Kat's failed negotiations with McDonald's to
name a fillet-o-feline after her, notorious starfucker
Samantha Ronson wants you to show the Mac a little
loving. Stretch Armstrong deejays with Matteo from the
Fun Lovin’ Criminals. Welcome back Kat? Need we even
mention that we had no idea she was away?

BLUE NUDES, NICHOLAS PAPADAKIS
Opening Reception, 6-8 pm
Locus Media Gallery, 594 Broadway Suite 1010 (corner
of Houston)
*Sometimes we just can’t be fanny-arsed to trek to the
West side. A glass of cheap red is as good here as the
next white room. Recommended. But not by us,

Saturday 6th Oct

HOUSE OF DIEHL
BLACK BOOK MAG and CONTROLLED ENTROPY
Automatic Fashion Event/Opening Party, 9pm
Remote Lounge, 327 Bowery at 2nd
RSVP: 212 529 3595
House of Diehl's "Birth of Instant Couture" event is
practically the only thing worth leaving the house for
this weekend. Not just for the free champagne and
hard-core hipster crowd, but because--in the cultural
Sahara that offers up Zoolander and hails black as
"this season's black"--here's someone with a genuinely
creative idea. Apart from that, everyone walks away
with an original piece of HoD couture--freer than a
five-finger-discount at Jeffrey. The invite, if you
were saucy enough to get one, insists that you bring a
found object. And did we mention the space? We
shouldn't have to.

Tuesday, October 9

NEW YORK METROPOLIS
Launch Party, 7pm
Kino, One Main Street, DUMBO, Brooklyn
RSVP: partyinvite@popstar.com.
*Hopefully, a local paper for the few of us who aren't
40-year-old, aspiring transvestites & their beards
junkies, or right-wing knuckleheads who enjoy
2000-word diatribes on how long someone's dump was at
the restaurant they were reviewing. Please! A "free"
paper, not another extremist manifesto that we'd only
pick up to wipe our dog's ass with--or when we need
more Asian hookers.

TAN-DA Restaurant
Opening Party, 8pm
331 Park Avenue South
Invite: 290 1100 x38
"Pan Asian fusion"? Note to restaurants: Pick one
country and go with it. And why is that "fusion" is
okay in models and restaurants, but when you
crossbreed a dog, it’s a "mutt"? Actually, due to our
non-committal nature, we do enjoy some good fusion.
>From the people who brought you NAMBLA. Oops, we mean
Moomba.
