NME reports that Daft Punk have indeed left long-time label partner Virgin in favor of Sony/Columbia Records. Their fourth studio album will be ready for release in Spring 2013. Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, the mysterious duo behind Daft Punk, had been with Virgin since 1996.

Daft Punk began their illustrious music career with the unforgettable debut album 'Homework' back in 1997, followed by 'Discovery' in 2001, 'Human After All' in 2005, and the soundtrack for 'Tron: Legacy' in 2010.

There were also some random Facebook rumors about Daft Punk headlining this year's Coachella in April but no sign of official word just yet. Confirmed Coachella artists of interest currently include Benny Benassi, Bassnectar, Eric Prydz, Hot Chip, Infected Mushroom, Knife Party, and Phoenix.
