The music streaming race just got a little more heated
While Prime had a mere 2 million songs available Unlimited expands that to pretty much any song you can think of. Prices are in line with what you would expect. Available for $9.99 per month or with a slight discount at$7.99 for Amazon Prime members. The big news however, is an Echo specific subscription plan for a mere $3.99. This limits play to just Amazon Echo devices so tablet, mobile and other usage requires paying double.
The marketplace is indeed crowded with the likes of Apple Music, Spotify and Google Play but for those who have jumped on the Amazon Echo bandwagon this is certainly an enticing prospect. Especially at the generous price point.
As mentioned before I am a massive fan of the Amazon Echo, it has replaced the home stereo for me. The only thing that bothers me is that the that the little cylinder can not satisfy all my demands for obscure tunes but when a mere $4 a month can solve that inconvenience it's hard to ignore.
The downside is availability of music outside the home, especially in the car but no doubt Amazon is busy working on ways to bridge that gap. I would be very surprised if Echosmart speakers don't find a home in some of next years new model cars.
