More about me:
Cuban born Sound/Recording engineer, musician and artist began his career early as a musician playing guitar by the age of 8 yrs. old. He started at the SBCAT (South Bronx Community Action Theatre) which was at P.S. 5 in the South Bronx playing Spanish Classical music taught by Cuban countryman Juan Gonzalez. He continued to play guitar and incorporate his Cuban heritage until the age of 22 when he began playing piano and was taught by his cousin Lisa Ramos (who collaborated with him to write their first song together "Hello"). In his teen years he studied art at the infamous H.S. of Art & Design where he began his DJing career in 1976 with good friend DJ Saint Pete (Pete Melendez - Saint Pete Systems). After high school he continued to play guitar for the Ballet Caribe and small local groups in NYC. He continued to DJ and also produced music for local artist in the club scene in the eighties. In the 90s still working as a DJ and sound engineer for local acts, he also was guitarist/keyboardist for acts like Vernon Reid, Lifeline, Gizmo & Ex-Vandals. He also worked with Bassist Stan Pratt from Ex-Vandals not only on art pieces, but also on music for the Hip-Hop, Rap scene out of Harlem.

In 1995 T.A.C.E. Entertainment (formerly Lizard Central T.A.C.E. (The Afro-Cuban Experience) was born and the world-beat and Latin sound was introduced to a lot of his projects as well as his own. He also got together with his old friend Saint Pete to become his sound engineer and tech for live sound in 1998. He continued working with him even today. He has worked with acts like the Johnny Ray, Grupo Niche, Willie Colon, El Canario, Harlem Salsa Orchestra, Ray Sepulveda, Oscar De Leon, Conjunto Imagen, Johnny Polanco, Conjuto Milenio, Jimmy Bosch, the Lebron Bros., DJ Henry Knowles, DJ Nelson Torres, Kevin Sevallo, La India, Masters at Work, etc. and events like the Japan to New York Music Festival, the Trenton Puerto Rican Day Parade Festival, the NYC, Jersey City, Trenton, Connecticut & Philadelphia Puerto Rican Day Parades, NYC, Boston, Connecticut, Philadelphia, Maryland, D.C. Salsa Congresses and corporations like Chase Manhattan Bank, Nike and Barcardi. He has also worked with electronic music legend and artist John Blackford. Today he has engineered groups like Classic Rock group "Disciple" (Demo) and Alternative Rock group "Crush" (Album), & "Gone Blind" (Album), and Heavy Metal group "Human Decline" (Demo), R&B group "Smooth Blackness", Hip Hop artist "Black" & "Brian Hunt" and Spoken-Word artist "Joey Clearwater". Plenty of local Hip-Hop/Rap acts have also used the experience of his engineering and producing skills to make sure they sound good. Also he has recorded original music, which he has produced, arranged and mixed himself on the The Afro-Cuban Experience album, and engineering different artists on Grandma's Puddin' Compilation album.

Sal continues to DJ, putting out cds like Everything Starts Tomorrow, Basement Gathering, Sal's Urban Sex Mix, 3rd Avenue Hustle, Buena Vista Avenue and Worlds Unknown. Sal has DJayed at clubs like Club Exit, Roxy's, Cielo, 40/40, Hammerstein Ballroom, Le Bar Bat, Soho 323 and Monster.

For over thirty years he continues to make music his love and passion. He also enjoys giving young people his knowledge on working and dealing with the music business. Oh, what a joy. He has also worked with not to forget Taiisha Herrera-Owens (daughter and sound designer) and TyHeem Herrera (son and electronic musician). Sal continues to keep his ear to the streets in order to help bring out good music for the people.
