Michael

Hi, looking to get back into uploading some ideas I've had. Been using Ableton 6 on my laptop, but am looking to get a rollcall from the members to see what everyone is using these days for software-only composition to see if I might try something else for my next go-round.

Ableton 8.14, Audacity 1.3 beta and occasionally Fruity Loops 8

I don't think you can slice audio tracks to midi in Ableton 6, was added in 7 i think (not sure, i started using ableton @ 7)? I use this all the time and it is far more convenient for making quick edits than going back in to audacity.

Video for ableton slicer example:

Fruity Loops 9.1 XXL is my reference but having a legal XXL standard copy with all the plug-ins unlocked must be like 1000$ expansive !!!
It's simple beside Cubase 5.1 that is the biggest and industry norm software and offer the same potential for non very professional users..and even..

you find sonar any good mate??

we purchased it for our studio and find it pretty unstable, i am fortunate to have most win based DAWs and sonar is rated at the bottom of them, not saying its crap just wondering if other users find it good solid and reliable, i started in cakewalk pro audio 9 back in the day so not against sonar, just curious

A legal copy of XXL with all the standard plug-ins is not that much at all. If you buy it in download form it's like 300 dollars.
