i was a little incensed when my lebanon topic got locked... but i guess i _sort_ of understand. people spit a lot of bullshit about politics, and it gets out of hand and personal. however, that\'s real... it is the world we all live in after all. i just find it odd when i\'m told i can\'t talk about something. it happens so very rarely.
besides... it just seems limited to politics on this website. there\'s a lot of mudslinging in many other musical topics... i find people can get just as bad about music as politics.
i think it takes just as much effort to lock all political discussions as to lock just the ones that get out of hand.
i mean, like Reve said, what makes a part of your music is important. almost all of my stuff is based somewhere in politics because the world situation is what i think about more than anything else, and its what i hope to change a little with the tunes...
as a final note, i notice the tendency all over the world for when shit really starts to hit the fan, suddenly people everywhere are limited in their ability to speak about it by authority figures. the level of turmoil is tied directly to the level of censorship.
i suppose the rule will probably stay, but we can at least complain about it? right? -

i think when people tire of a topic they will move on. there are plenty of debates on here that i simply stop looking in on, and sometimes i just don\'t say anything sometimes i do. i just think maybe we should be allowed to argue if we want to. it\'s good for you.
those who begin screaming for a topic to be locked really only need to stop reading it. it will eventually go away. the more i see it the more it does smack of dictatorship.
when topic gets locked up that really has me excited then i have to go to work and take it out on my co-workers. starting up arguements and such. (this is a joke
)this nearly never turns out well... -

to be honest i think topics get locked far too often on here, if it was just up to me id only lock things that are questions about site bugs that have been fixed or when someone posts multiple topics, and the only thing id really edit is any racism or things thats crossing the \'discrimination\' line and id bollock the poster.
i dont just lock topics because of an argument, this protecting the \'community\' shit is bollocks... people need to get flamed for some of the shit they say (like beating everyone on idj with a wooden stick for example
)
i dont really like the fact that politics arent allowed here either, this is the only place on the internet with the potential for me to hear how producers feel about politics lol plus where else am i going to hear angulars anti-government conspiracy theories? i think some of the mods have made this forum fuckin borin... i want to hear what producers feel about everything... not just the comparison between fruity loops and cubase. -

Well I,ll be danged twelve....that it is one of the best posts you\'ve come up with. I agree we should be able to agree to disagree on lifes issues including religion and politics. Besides our mutual passion for music, I think we should be able to able to debate and argue like normal folks and families. It would help others but I think it should be seperated. Isn,t the General Discussion Forum the place for everyone to air it out \"get it all out\" to quote the guiedlines set by admin. But obviou there should b e alimit to what we tolerate. Some of our less mature to individulas with talent potentional may misunderstand and be driven from the site....which I think is, IMO, bad for the finanacial well being of the community and unfair to newbies who don,t really know where everbody comes from....whether their oking, serious or just different. What makes this site so unique is the diversity of tracks and genres available all treated , I think, with a reasonable equity by all of the most of the other members.
I agrre personnal attacks and descrimination do not belong on this site in regards to race , chioce of belief, politcal and faith views. Maybe we could be open minded enough to listen to all cultures and beliefs weather or not we think we know better. If you you really do know better there is nothing to comment on.
Our music is one of the last things left in the world that breaks those boundries and I,m just amazed at the productions I hear from all over the world.
In the meantime , I think the mods are doing thier best to polic the site in what they as indivduals feel ar ethe best thing for it. Wether we like it or not, this is still a commercial venture and couldn,t exist without some income so I can see the motivation behind some of the locks.
Gott agree wth some though twelve, you are an asshole which is just another term for opinionated. Kudos . Really getting to like your unique sense of humor and of course your finely produced tracks !
Now I,ll get the vote for the most rambling and typo filled posts on the site, but hey, do a I really give a rats ass ?
Now , I should really be spending time improving as an artist , producer and all that implies, instead of spending so much time ramblimg on in the forum.
Peace and Blessings to you all

bills has a valid point. obviously the general forum is the most heavily visited and having these huge quarrels on full display here does sort of resemble the airage of dirty laundry. it\'s kind of like when the white trash folks stand out in the road at the trailer park and scream at eachother. (before anyone takes offense to this simile, please note that i was born and raised in the trashiest of trashy trailer parks
) it does look really bad to newbs and visitors.
therefore i propose the creation of a \"dirty laundry\" forum where we can really get down and dirty. name calling, racial slurs, fat jokes, whatever floats your boat
