I don\'t mean to kick up a fuss or cause a
disturbance, but I have noticed that certain topics on IDj always get locked for some reason or other. It seems to be topics that really get to people\'s personal beliefs, such as Israel Palestine, or Capital Punishment.
Why do these topics get locked? I think this is an oppurtunity to express ourselves, and discuss important issues. In the General Discussion forum. They are General Discussions
I would much rather spend time posting in the \"Awful Murder\" post than the brainless \"Paris Hilton\" post. if any post should be shut, it\'s that one.
All I\'m saying is I reckon that having a heated discussion isn\'t a bad thing, talking about politics isn\'t a bad thing, talking about ethics isn\'t a bad thing. We need to talk about these things, people want to talk about them. I don\'t believe in such censorship. -

go to a site that talks about that. this is a music site, we talk about music related stuff here. that will just start stupid out of control threads that have no ending and piss everyone off. not saying its bad to talk about it, but there are sites specific to that. just my opinion.

hey i am always up for a heated discussion. but wen members get personal thats the line over shot. but we really shouldnt add that crap to idj. music is our battle here. i agree with the topic getting locked. few things we should never do. one bring in religion. race to any topic. simply because music doesnt see race or religion. sure we got the house and trance wars and off program ones. its kwl

i have to agree that the censorship of politics in our forums is not only beneficial but crucial to keep our community together rather than split by opinions. If you randomly search through other websites that are not politically related yet certain topics of that nature have caused too much tension or better yet, unnecessary tension. We should leave those discussions for blogs and pundits because we\'re all different, raised with certain beliefs and the one thing that unites us here is our dedication to music

Yeah, I locked a couple of topics including the latest one. I second (from experience) what Farace points out well.

i agree with grooki, what you said about this being a music site - then why didnt you lock the bob ross thread? or any of the hundreds of other threads about something besides music? that just seems hypocritical to me, especially if you just pick and chose

agreed. I\'ve learned to accept other people\'s opinions and respect them no matter how much I agree or disagree, that\'s what any mature person would do. So I say let the posts go, they will die out eventually anyway.

Different races have different music, it\'s part of their culture. -

I think Farace explained pretty clear why we lock certain topics. Even this is decided and agreed upon openly here on the forum some time ago after some serious arguments. -

Farace covered it....
