"still_exist" presents the listener with an excursion into percussive sounds as "sculptural" sonic forms. The beats synthesize humanly possible sounds with machine only generated sounds. They surround one as if they are 3-dimesional creations forged by a specialized craftsman. Like "the most beautiful" these potentially alienating beats are carefully reigned in at precise moments when they could become nothing more than masturbatory, over the top tracks lacking not only sophistication but beauty. The rest of the patches, bleeps, boinks and glitches are chosen well but perhaps need some refining and gain boosting. The very low voice samples at a captivating level of the mix. Otherwise once again stylistic integrity is well maintained and musical identity is being shaped, sharpened and wielded with confidence. (Posted on: Mar 19, 2009)
