Trevor Rockwell
Florida DJ & up and coming producer in the breaks and electro scene. As a DJ, Trevor is well known for his solid technical mixing skills as well as keeping the party rocking! This combo of technical smoothness and party rocker style is not found every day. He’s managed to change with the times while always staying true to his roots. For the past 8 years or so he’s made a name for himself dropping booty shaking break beats, Electro, and Ghetto Bass… add to that an up-to-date arsenal of B-more Club Jams, Indie Hipster edits and Hip-Hop remixes and you’re in for one hell of a ride.
Trevor has built up an impressive resume’ of performances for some huge audiences over his DJ career. From Florida and beyond, he’s played the infamous Ultra Music Festival in Miami 3 times. He says one of his favorite highlight moments was at Magical Maydaze where he was selected to play the coveted slot between Electro Dons of the scene Kraftwerk and Anthony Rother. “That was a true honor and a lot of fun, to share the stage with two of the pioneers that put electro on the map.” Another highlight would have to be the original and incredible, longest running electronic festival in America, Nocturnal Wonderland in Los Angeles.
When asked about his influences, Trevor explains “It was the guys that were rocking parties in the mid-90’s that sparked my passion, artists like Icey, The Crystal Method, Monk and Rabbit in the Moon of course, Storm & Johnny Dangerously who kind of took me in back then and really helped show me some things, there were a lot of influences of people that came before me really. Most of all though I would have to say it was my best friend Shawn Mancini, known as Dysco Pymp back in those days… (whattup Pymp) he was one of the coolest to do it and definitely had a lot of influence on me.”
Trevor Rockwell is also known for cutting edge mix tapes and CD’s, over 10 of them so far. Not too many people record their sets without the help from any computer programs these days. But Trevor has consistently proven himself to be a true talent, able to get behind the decks at any time, studio or live performance, and bang out a new live mix. Perhaps most famously, he programmed and mixed the Future Sound of Breaks CD in collaboration with DJ Storm. It was featured with excellent reviews in URB and BPM Magazines among others. The CD went on to sell out of stores nationwide and is considered by many to be a classic.
Always busy with other business ventures such as Real Estate and owning his own Franchises, Trevor still makes time to cut his teeth in the production realm. “I still have a lot to learn, but I really like being able to create my own style of music. I really have a wide spectrum of what I’m into so producing songs lets me tap into all of those elements.” He co-produced with Analog to Future (A.T.F.) on “Elektrotek” which was released on Zero-1 Recordings, again recently with Farace on “Take it” and also taking first prize in Orlando’s WJRR Radio station Remix contest for Nine Inch Nails hit song “Only.” Currently working in the studio on new tracks as well as talks of a new mix CD that is in the works, Trevor Rockwell is definitely a name not to be slept on.
