Video: Steve Lawler Behind the Decks at Spirit NYC
TweetPosted by Michael Bordash on Tuesday, October 25 2005
DJ/Producer Steve Lawler stopped by NYC to spin an amazing set at Spirit Nightclub. Check out some candid shots of Steve in action right here!
Steve Lawler is touring the world supporting his latest mix album "Lights Out 3". After the success of volumes one and two, how does number three compare? Steve answers "'Lights Out 1' was very dark, 'Lights Out 2' was funky and chunky and 'Lights Out 3', well... unlike some DJ compilations out there, these are all songs that I really love right now. Basically, it's very representative of what I'm playing...what I want people to realise is that this CD is full of stuff that other people aren’t playing. It's very difficult to be fresh without choosing obvious records but I think I've done that. I made this for the dancefloor."

| Thanks Risda! You sound like you shoulda been playing back to back with the man!Set sounds dark and dirty! Posted on 2005-10-29 04:30:11 by phillhunter |
| I thought it was perfect for the NYC crowd... I'm not sure if it was exactly what he'd play overseas, but for me, it was a superb set, a bit proggy/tech house, not as dark as some of the other guys making the house rounds, which is just what the crowds here like. NYC is very much a funky house type of town, and DJs need to adjust their sets just a bit if they play here. Moody stuff won't work. Lawler was right on here. The track in the second clip was the highlight of my night. Posted on 2005-10-28 22:03:05 by michael |
