Video: Armin Van Buuren Releases New Single GOING WRONG

Electronic Music News

Powerhouse Trance with a Pop Sound.

by Michael Bordash
Sunday, April 20 2008

Armin Van Buuren released the first single and video titled "Going Wrong" off his forthcoming artist album "Imagine". The single is released April 15, 2008 from his label Armada. The song features a partnership of Armin and DJ Shah, having met several years earlier in Ibiza. Vocals are provided by Chris Jones, an up and coming talent from England.

Armin begins the Spring strong with a solid artist album and this hot single; one that might even be pop enough to crack the US. Hardcore Trance fans may not appreciate the airy pop-sound on this single, and the almost amateur-ish (yet endearing) music video. Though Armin's skill as a producer shine through at the right moments, nothing he has produced will come close to his skills as a live DJ and performer.

Please don't judge this album on "Going Wrong." It's a solid album with some nice high points. Unfortunately, "Going Wrong" is its lowest point. Poor structure, worse mastering. It sounds like he just didn't finish it. I don't know anything about DJ Shah, but I can only assume the overall weakness of the track was due to Shah's part in it.

Wouldn't say he's going 'pop' it doesn't sound like pop, it's commercial trance (atleast on this side of the planet it is, Europe), besides, Tiesto has just as much commercial trance ;)
