TweetPosted by Michael Bordash on Thursday, December 09 2004
Paul van Dyk received a Grammy nomination in the new Best Electronic/Dance Album category for Reflections. PVD is a true leader of this genre which is finally attaining the recognition it deserves. Album samples here.
It is only fitting that Paul Van Dyk receive a Grammy nomination for the new Electronic category. His style and skills have been the inspiration for countless signed and underground producers and composers. Sincere congratulations for this honor as it is rightly deserved and expected.
Reflections was released by Mute/EMI in North America and features top Electronic/Dance hits "Time of Our Lives", "Connected", "Nothing but You", and "Crush." "Time of Our Lives" is the soundtrack for the current HBO/Cinemax trailer which has been running for the past 26 weeks. "Connected" became the soundtrack for the Motorola TV commercial for the C-350 telephone which was used in a world-wide campaign and which also featured Paul van Dyk as the person using the phone in the commercial.
Throughout this past year, van Dyk partnered with the "Rock the Vote" campaign to encourage his core audience (ages 18-30) to vote in this year’s election. The "Rock the Vote presents Paul Van Dyk Tour" marked the first time an electronic dance artist has been selected for a Rock the Vote tour. During this tour van Dyk performed in front of over 200,000 people across 36 tour events.

| OKEY I'll just say it: I've just suscribed to this forum because I couldn´t believe commentaries like those of FARAFACE! I mean, come on, you! PVD and Sasha as _music writers_ HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON! U are just being naive or you are a PVD fanatic that think he's the only thing in the world, like those religious fantatics. Sasha doesn't make Dance music, he's into more intelligent, intimal tunes, and that makes him elite. Just for those who can understand that kind of music. Please go and buy Involver or Airdrawndagger, and listen to the record more than 15 minutes! so you can have more criteria in which base your opinions. PVD on the other hand, makes trance, floorfilling music! the genres are different. And it's obvius that the grammy is intended to the Dance people, not for the electronic pioneers that make more relaxing music, like Mike Oldfield, Jean Michel Jarre, or, in this case, Sasha. | pvd knows so much more than sasha in the studio, 12. sasha just dj's, only recently has he actualy used equipment to make tracks. he didnt make expander, he just had ideas and the engineers made the track. pvd blows sasha away in my book. sasha was just in it very early, not that he isnt good. hes great at what he does, dj. pvd has an ear for sonic quality, all his tracks are so clear and crisp. just my opinion though.
