Kinda disappointing. I was expecting a WHOLE lot more from dem. Not just with this song,but the whole album in general. Being a huge fan of their 1st album,everything after that was a let down. And they could of did a lot more with the visualz. I like the darkness of the video,but they could have added some more stuff to it. Just looking at dem perform getz boring FAST!! Like the album tho',I was expecting so much more. SAD. It seemz that'z been the trend for a lot of my favorite artist lately. I would have hoped that, after 11 years, Portishead would have progressed a bit more than this. I was rather hoping that their third album would sound different than their first two, which sounded like one long album. As much as I loved these guys when they first got started, I slowly became disenchanted with the fact that they seem so latched onto a particular style which becomes tedious over time. While this track might not sound exactly like their older stuff, it's a lot less innovative than that stuff was back then. Not only that but the music on this sounds ridiculously amateur. Especially the strings that come in towards the end, and the cheesy flanger. I am also EXTREMELY bored with their overuse of the theremin. IT was refreshing at one time but now it's just more of the same. I thought they were smarter than this but with every year they grow more and more stale. Occasionally I run into someone who still deifies them; someone who never was exposed to anything further on the fringe than this, and to those people I think this will be brilliant. To those of us who appreciate hearing an artist progress and explore new sound, this is falls miserably short. (Posted on: 2008-05-14 16:00:28)
